In an era when cost accounting tools were largely configured for hospitals, this project broke new ground by also integrating the costs and revenues of professional care. A new view of “total patient care” emerged, enabling comprehensive package pricing for specific clinical procedures.

Separately, the corresponding longitudinal utilization reports were the foundation of a program of variance reduction estimated to have saved $2 million after one year.
