Clinicians with “Efficient Quality” Practices Acknowledged

Although efficient use of health care resources looks to be poorly correlated with provision of medically recommended care, some clinicians appear to perform well in both areas. Under this program, clinicians exhibiting “efficient quality” practice characteristics were publicly acknowledged by a major health plan and received financial awards.

The sponsoring health plan explains that “as employers continue to migrate towards benefit plans that transfer more financial responsibility to the member at the point of service, there is a growing demand for more robust information regarding cost and quality.”
